New Technologies in Journalism

Explainer Videos

An explainer video is a short video that employs images, montage, animation, stop motion, on screen text, and voice over to explain complex topics, with evidence based storytelling, in a succinct visual format.

New technologies in video journalism are focusing content on short form, data driven stories in order to address social media formats, a culture of multi-tasking, and skepticism about objectivity. Explainer videos and infographics are two formats that embrace this.
